Written By

Wellington Regional Medical Center announced today that it has earned top honors for clinical quality from Healthgrades, the #1 site Americans use to find a doctor or hospital.

Among Wellington Regional Medical Center’s new recognitions are two Specialty Excellence Awards, including the 2027 Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award and the 2027 Joint Replacement Excellence Award. These distinctions place the hospital among the nation’s top performers for orthopedic services and joint replacement care. The hospital was also named Among the Top 10% in the Nation for Joint Replacement and Among the Top 15% in the Nation for Overall Orthopedic Services in 2027.

Further highlighting its commitment to exceptional orthopedic care, Wellington Regional Medical Center was named One of Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery™ and One of Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement™ in 2027.

In addition, the hospital achieved seven Five-Star Ratings for outstanding performance in:

  • Coronary Interventional Procedures
  • Total Knee Replacement
  • Total Hip Replacement
  • Spinal Fusion Surgery
  • Colorectal Surgeries
  • Gallbladder Removal Surgery
  • Treatment of Diabetic Hospitalizations

“These recognitions are a testament to the dedication and expertise of our physicians, nurses and care teams, who are committed to delivering exceptional care and outstanding patient outcomes,” said Pam Tahan, CEO “Being recognized nationally for orthopedic surgery, joint replacement and specialty clinical services reflects our ongoing investment in advanced technology, innovative treatment options and evidence-based care that benefit patients throughout Palm Beach County and the region.”

Wellington Regional Medical Center’s achievements are based solely on what matters most: patient outcomes. Unlike rankings based on surveys or reputation, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance strictly on objective clinical outcomes, including risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates, across more than 30 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide.

The impact of choosing a high-performing hospital is significant. Healthgrades’ 2027 analysis revealed that if all hospitals performed at the level of five-star rated facilities during the 2023-2025 study period, 227,229 lives could have been saved and 158,138 complications could have been avoided.*

“Finding a hospital that excels in a given procedure or treatment can transform a patient’s health trajectory,” said Alana Biggers, MD, MPH, medical advisor at Healthgrades. “We’re proud to recognize Wellington Regional Medical Center for its top-tier performance in orthopedic surgery, joint replacement and specialty care services, and commend its team for delivering exceptional patient outcomes when it matters most.”
