Leading Edge Investments Launches in South Florida, Bringing a New Level of Precision to Private Travel

Justin 1 (1)

WELLINGTON, FL — As Wellington’s equestrian season continues to draw top riders, owners, and spectators from around the world, a new aviation firm is launching with a focus on one thing: making travel as precise and efficient as the sport itself.

Leading Edge Investments LLC, founded by aviation professional Justin McGowan, is entering the South Florida market with a different approach to private air travel—one built around strategy, accountability, and seamless execution.

McGowan, who brings more than 15 years of experience in commercial aviation and international program management, spent his career overseeing complex travel operations for global clients, premier sports teams, and high-profile movements. Now, he’s applying that experience to a more focused, advisory-driven model.

“In a place like Wellington, timing is everything,” McGowan said. “You have riders, owners, and spectators coming in for very specific windows. Travel has to work around that—not the other way around.”

Unlike traditional charter brokers, Leading Edge doesn’t simply provide flight options. The firm works closely with clients to structure each trip—aligning aircraft, operators, timing, and logistics so the experience is smooth from start to finish.

“We’re not here to just quote a flight,” McGowan said. “We’re here to make sure the entire movement is handled properly. That’s what our clients deserve.”

While Wellington is known for its world-class equestrian competition, it’s also a hub for high-level business and seasonal living. Many clients are balancing tight schedules, traveling between cities like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles while maintaining a presence in South Florida.

Private aviation, when structured correctly, allows that lifestyle to function without compromise.

“It’s not uncommon for someone to fly in from New York in the morning, spend the day at the show, and be back in the air by late afternoon,” McGowan said. “That level of efficiency changes how people move. It gives them their time back.”

“Whether it’s a team, a family, or someone coming in for the weekend, the expectation is that everything runs smoothly,” McGowan said. “Our job is to make sure the travel side of that equation is handled without disruption.”

The company’s services extend beyond individual travel, supporting group movements, corporate retreats, and high-sensitivity travel where discretion and coordination are critical. Each engagement is led directly, with a focus on accountability rather than volume.

McGowan continued…

“While our core expertise lies in the seamless movement of private personnel, our deep-tier industry partnerships allow us to extend that same “First-Class” standard to the passengers who cannot speak for themselves, yet deserve the highest level of care.”

“In the Wellington ecosystem, we understand that specialized cargo—specifically the transport of elite equine athletes—is mission-critical. Through our global network and operational rigor, we provide breeders and owners with a specialized “stall-to-stable” aviation solution. Whether it’s a high-stakes competition or a critical breeding movement, we don’t just arrange flights; we orchestrate the delicate logistics of equine charters with the same precision and safety protocols we afford our human principals.”

For McGowan, the launch of Leading Edge Investments is about filling a gap in how private aviation is delivered—especially in markets where expectations are high.

“Wellington is a unique environment,” he said. “People here value precision, reliability, and professionalism. That’s exactly how we operate… We’re not trying to be the biggest,” he said. “We’re focused on being the most reliable. When a client hands us a trip, they’re trusting us with more than just travel—they’re trusting us with time, reputation, and outcome.”

As Leading Edge Investments maintains a private firm with tailored, discreet solutions, its leadership believes that approach will resonate—particularly in a market like South Florida, where expectation bars are set high and details matter.

“People here understand quality,” McGowan added. “They know when something is done properly. That’s the standard we’re building around.”

Safe Kids PBC and Local Leaders Launch “Hot Car Death Prevention Month” to Combat Rising Fatalities

IMG 4365

As Florida enters Hot Car Death Prevention Month, Safe Kids Palm Beach County, a signature program of Community Partners of South Florida (CPSFL), joined forces with local emergency and child advocacy leaders last Friday to launch a critical safety campaign aimed at ending pediatric vehicular heatstroke.

The event, held on Friday, April 3, at the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Headquarters on Pike Road in West Palm Beach , served as a somber reminder of the stakes involved.

IMG 4365

Florida currently ranks second in the nation for child deaths in hot cars, with 112 lives lost since 2001. The awareness month is part of “Ariya’s Act,” a state law named in memory of 10-month-old Ariya Paige, who tragically passed away in 2023.

“Safe Kids Palm Beach County is committed to educating our community and providing the tools necessary to prevent these heartbreaking incidents,” said Kathy Wall, Director of Safe Kids PBC. “This month is about raising awareness and taking action to ensure no child suffers from vehicular heatstroke in our county.”

IMG 4354

The news conference featured a  visual demonstration of how quickly a vehicle’s internal temperature can reach deadly levels, even on a mild Florida day. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue also performed a mock rescue, reenacting the high-stakes emergency response required when a child is discovered alone in a vehicle.

Key speakers at the event included:

  • Kathy Wall, Director of Safe Kids Palm Beach County (CPSFL)
  • Dr. Lisa Williams-Taylor, CEO of the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County
  • Phillip Olavarria, Division Chief of Medical Services, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue

Safe Kids PBC is one of more than 60 programs funded by the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County. As a program of Community Partners of South Florida, Safe Kids PBC works year-round to provide parents and caregivers with practical “look before you lock” strategies and education to prevent tragedies before they occur.

BOCA RATON, FL — April 3, 2026 — The South Florida nonprofit Her Second Chance recently held a springtime luncheon fundraiser, celebrating and honoring women in recovery from substance abuse in Palm Beach County. Supported by honorary chairs Marta Batmasian and Zoe Lanham, the event exceeded expectations in generating support for Her Second Chance’s mission of empowering women in recovery through paid employment, skill-building, and long-term career pathways.

The sold-out event was held on March 26, 2026, at The Addison, beginning with mocktails in the courtyard beneath its iconic banyan trees. Guests then enjoyed an intimate luncheon experience, thoughtfully styled with lavender and spring-green accents, featuring delicate orchid centerpieces and whimsical dessert towers.

Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to purchase handmade goods created by women participating in Her Second Chance’s transitional employment program, directly supporting their path to independence. The afternoon was further enriched by a testimonial from a participant in the program whose life has been transformed, offering a meaningful and personal connection to its mission.

“As someone who has the privilege of hosting so many meaningful events at The Addison, this one was especially powerful,” said Lanham. “It was an honor to support an event that celebrates resilience while directly impacting the future of so many women in our own community.”

The luncheon also featured the presentation of the inaugural Her Second Chance Award, recognizing leaders who have demonstrated a deep commitment to serving others. This year’s award was presented to Nancy Pulte Rickard, president and board chair of the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation in Boca Raton.

“Nancy’s leadership reflects a deep belief that every life has value,” said Chris Malfitano, president of the Board of Directors of Her Second Chance. “She has provided Her Second Chance not only with resources, but presence—not only support, but partnership.”

“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition from Her Second Chance,” said Rickard. “Supporting individuals on their journey to recovery and independence is essential. When we invest in people, we strengthen entire communities.”

4th Annual National Poetry Month Youth Summit Empowers South Florida Students Through Creative Expression, Literacy, and Mental Wellness

Poetry Youth Summit

Riviera Beach, FL — April 25, 2026  In celebration of National Poetry Month, community leaders, educators, and artists will come together for the 4th Annual National Poetry Month Youth Summit, a transformative, free event designed to empower middle and high school students through spoken word, creative writing, and self-expression.

Hosted at the Riviera Beach Marina from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Youth Summit will welcome students from across Palm Beach County for a day of immersive workshops, live performances, and scholarship opportunities, all centered around the power of literacy and voice.

Founded by community leader and advocate Desiree Reavis, the summit was created to provide young people with a safe and inspiring platform to share their stories, build confidence, and explore poetry as a positive mental health outlet.

“National Poetry Month is about more than poetry, it’s about giving young people a voice,” said Reavis. “This summit creates a space where students feel seen, heard, and empowered to turn their experiences into something powerful. We are not just teaching writing, we are building confidence, leadership, and community.”

A Day of Inspiration, Expression, and Opportunity

The Youth Summit will feature:

  • Interactive creative writing and spoken word workshops led by professional poets and educators
  • Public speaking and performance coaching to help students build confidence on stage
  • Live youth poetry competition with scholarship awards:

Addressing Youth Mental Health Through Creative Expression

At a time when youth mental health challenges continue to rise, the summit provides a critical outlet for self-expression, reflection, and healing. Through poetry, students are encouraged to process emotions, share their stories, and connect with others in a supportive environment.

“Poetry gives students permission to feel, to reflect, and to speak,” Reavis added. “For many of them, this is the first time they realize their voice matters, and that realization can change everything.”

Community Impact and Growing Momentum

Now in its fourth year, the National Poetry Month Youth Summit has grown into a recognized community movement, drawing support from local leaders, educators, and sponsors committed to youth empowerment and literacy.

The event has previously received official proclamations from state and local leaders, highlighting its impact on education, mental wellness, and community engagement across Palm Beach County.

Arthur Miller’s Classic, Tony Award-Winning The Crucible Opens at Palm Beach Dramaworks on April 3

Julie Kleiner, Gary Cadwallader, Tom Patterson, Andy Prosky,Elisabeth Yancey

It’s easy to understand why Arthur Miller’s The Crucible is his most performed play worldwide, and why the playwright once said in an interview that he considered it his finest work. A masterful, riveting exploration of the 1692 Salem witch trials, this timeless and timely Tony Award-winning play is also an allegory for McCarthyism and the House Un-American Activities Committee’s modern-day witch hunts. Convinced that witches are living among them, Salem is gripped by mass hysteria, paranoia, fear, and retribution, with neighbors turning on and turning in neighbors, and religious fervor turning a blind eye to justice.

This extraordinary, powerful play opens at Palm Beach Dramaworks on April 3 (7:30pm) and continues through April 19, with specially priced previews on April 1 and 2 (7:30pm). PBD Producing Artistic Director William Hayes directs.

Diane Perlberg is the 2025-26 season sponsor. Toni and Martin Sosnoff are the executive producers of The Crucible, and Nancy Goodes is the producer.

The Crucible is an honest depiction of what occurred in Salem in 1692, but it is not a historical document – nor was it meant to be. Miller prefaced published versions of the play with a note about his approach to the material: “This play is not history in the sense in which the word is used by the academic historian. Dramatic purposes have sometimes required many characters to be fused into one; the number of girls involved in the ‘crying out’ has been reduced; Abigail’s age has been raised; while there were several judges of almost equal authority, I have symbolized them all in Hathorne and Danforth. However, I believe that the reader will discover here the essential nature of one of the strangest and most awful chapters in human history. . . .”

His changes also heightened the drama and served the show’s many other themes: the subjugation of women, sexual repression – the play’s hysteria is rooted in sexual desire– survival, infidelity, desperation, and guilt.

PBD’s production features (in alphabetical order) Cat Boynton, Barbara B. Bradshaw, Gary Cadwallader, John Campagnuolo, Kaia Davis (PBD debut), Rob Donohoe, Peter W. Galman, Hannah Haley, David A. Hyland, Nick Jordan (PBD debut), Julie Kleiner (PBD debut), Margery Lowe, Natalie Donahue McMahon (PBD debut), Tom Patterson (PBD debut), Andy Prosky, Karen Stephens, John Leonard Thompson, Seth Trucks (PBD debut), Tom Wahl, and Elisabeth Yancey.

Jessica Chen is the assistant director, Doug Wilkinson is the scenic designer (PBD’s technical director making his design debut with the company), Brian O’Keefe is the costume designer, José Santiago is the lighting designer (PBD debut), Roger Arnold is the sound designer, Adam J. Despite winning the Tony Award for Best Play in 1953, the original production of The Crucible was not a hit. It ran 197 performances– just under six months – and critical reaction was lukewarm, at best. Brooks Atkinson, writing in The New York Times, gave the play a mixed review, which included a line that was not what one would call prophetic. “After the experience of ‘Death of a Salesman’ we probably expect Mr. Miller to write a masterpiece every time. ‘The Crucible’ is not of that stature and it lacks that universality.”

Miller was unhappy with the production, and he blamed director Jed Harris’ passionless choices. He wrote in Timebends, his autobiography, “I knew we had cooled off a very hot play, which therefore was not going to move anyone very deeply. It was not a performance from within but a kind of conscious rendering.”

Despite the short run and lackluster reviews, The Crucible was staged in Belgium later in 1953, marking the play’s first European production. Over the next few years, the play was seen in England twice, and in France. Miller didn’t see any of the productions; the State Department would not permit him to leave the country.

A reconsideration of the play in the United States occurred in 1958, when The Crucible was given one of the first Off-Broadway productions. Produced by Paul Libin, the play’s heat and passion were restored and The Crucible ran for two years. Critics raved, and Miller noted in Timebends that some of them were convinced he had revised the script. “Not a word had changed,” he wrote. There have since been five Broadway revivals, an Off-Broadway revival, and countless productions across the country and around the world.

Arthur Miller’s plays include The Man Who Had All the Luck (1944); All My Sons (1947), Tony Award; Death of a Salesman (1949), Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play; The Crucible (1953), Tony Award; A Memory of Two Mondays (1955), A View from the Bridge (1956), After the Fall (1964), Incident at Vichy (1964), The Price (1968), The American Clock (1980), The Ride Down Mt. Morgan (1991), The Last Yankee (1993), Broken Glass (1994), and Resurrection Blues (2002). Films: Let’s Make Love, The Misfits, The Crucible (1996), and the TV film Playing for Time, which he adapted for the stage in 1985. Miller was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 1979 and was the recipient of a Kennedy Center Honor in 1984. He died in 2005 at the age of 89.
