The Jack the Bike Man nonprofit is making it easier than ever for Palm Beach County residents to turn an unused bicycle into reliable transportation for someone who needs it. In celebration of Jack the Bike Man Day on Saturday, Oct. 10, the West Palm Beach-based organization is partnering for the second year with the West Palm Beach Fire Department for a community-wide bicycle drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at six fire stations throughout the city – twice as many locations as last year.
The community is encouraged to donate new and gently used bicycles of all sizes, which Jack the Bike Man will refurbish and put back into the community through its programs and partnerships with more than 75 local schools and nonprofit organizations. Each year, the nonprofit empowers thousands by providing essential transportation — from helping children get to school while giving them the confidence and freedom of their own bike, to helping adults get to work, medical appointments and other essential services.
In addition to traditional bicycles of all sizes, Jack the Bike Man is accepting e-bikes, scooters, adaptive bicycles, bicycle gear and helmets manufactured within the past five years. Donation receipts will be available. Based on firefighter availability, families stopping by may also have an opportunity to meet West Palm Beach firefighters and explore a fire truck.
Bicycles and related items can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following fire stations in West Palm Beach:
- Fire Station 1 — 500 North Dixie Hwy.
- Fire Station 2 — 4301 South Dixie Hwy.
- Fire Station 3 — 5050 Broadway
- Fire Station 6 — 3033 Cumberland Dr.
- Fire Station 7 – 8007 Okeechobee Blvd.
- Fire station 8 – 10965 Northlake Blvd.

As we continue to grow our reach, every bike donated helps us put essential transportation into the hands of someone who can use it to move forward.”
Jack the Bike Man Day was established by City of West Palm Beach proclamation in 2018 to recognize the organization’s service to the community and the legacy of its late founder, Samuel “Jack” Hairston III. What began with Hairston collecting, repairing and giving away bicycles has grown into an organization serving thousands throughout Palm Beach County. In 2025 alone, thanks to tremendous community support, Jack the Bike Man donated more than 1,600 bicycles to those of all ages throughout Palm Beach County,
Community members who cannot participate on Oct. 10 can donate bicycles year-round at Jack the Bike Man, 420 Claremore Drive in West Palm Beach.
