While Virginia’s polo season has officially come to a close, the International Polo Tour®, together with Morven Park, Hotel Burg, and nonprofit partner We Will Survive Cancer (WWSC), will host one final sendoff for the polo community: the IPT Sunset Polo™ White Lotus 250th Anniversary Polo Cup, taking place September 19. This special celebration unites global culture, history, entertainment, luxury, philanthropy, and of course, the sport of polo.
Honoring America’s vibrant anniversary as well as our nation’s legacy of international connection, this year’s IPT Sunset Polo™ is being held in connection with the Royal Thai Embassy, with His Excellency Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, will attend as a special guest to symbolize the event’s devotion to showcasing Thailand’s beauty.
Guests will enjoy polo and cultural programming from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Morven Park, followed by the Rooftop Après Polo at the official IPT accommodation partner, Hotel Burg from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Polo hotel guests and sponsoring partners will then be welcomed into The Diana Lounge to continue the evening with extended hospitality and bar service featuring the “IPT PoloTini ™ ” which Hotel Burg is generously supporting the drink profit proceeds to benefit We Will Survive Cancer. Guests traveling into town for the charity polo should contact the Hotel burg for exclusive rates under the International Polo Tour special rate offer exclusive for polo guests.
Most importantly, the event will directly benefit We Will Survive Cancer, giving the community another opportunity to support families affected by cancer while enjoying one of the region’s most beautiful venues.
The night’s itinerary will include a Celebrity All Star Polo Match, including icons like the NFL’s Tim Johnson, Team USA vs Thailand, and the now-annual International Polo Tour Crypto Cup held in association with FAIM.WORLD. The final game will also be held in memory of Stuart Allen Weinstein-Bacal, an avid polo supporter and friend to the greater DC area who succumbed to cancer this February.
Tareq Salahi, Team Captain and Chairman of the IPT, stated, “Our regular season may be over, but one extraordinary night of polo remains- this celebration carries even greater significance as we honor America’s 250th anniversary together and welcome the community back for an evening of sport, culture, and meaningful impact.”
The four organizations will work together to ensure the community, sponsors, box‑seat holders, and polo supporters across Leesburg and the entire DMV area enjoy an experience unlike any other.
