Fallen Patriots Brings Annual Gala to The Breakers for Second Year

Screenshot 2025 08 18 192111

PALM BEACH, Fla. JULY, 24, 2025 – Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is preparing to host their Second Annual Palm Beach Gala on March 5, 2026, at the prestigious Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. After last year’s inaugural event raised $2.4 million, this year’s gala promises to be an extraordinary evening of tribute, hope, and community support for military families who have made the ultimate sacrifice while illuminating the critical mission of supporting children who have lost a parent in military service.

The event commences at 6 p.m. with the cocktail reception, where distinguished guests will join co-chairs Jill and Matt Schecter to celebrate the resilience of military families and provide support through educational scholarships to military children who lost a parent in the line of duty. Attendees will enjoy an exquisite dinner, guest speakers, live auction, surprise entertainment, and plenty of opportunities for meaningful engagement and sponsorship.

Founded by CEO David Y. Kim in 2002, Children of Fallen Patriots has provided over $76 million in scholarships to nearly 3,800 military children from all branches who lost a parent. This ensures that the children of America’s servicemen and women can pursue higher education without the stress of a financial burden. The organization also provides professional development opportunities through internships, full-time job placements, and career training, ensuring upward mobility for Gold Star children who have experienced loss.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Palm Beach community and our dedicated host committee for their support of last year’s Inaugural Palm Beach Gala. Their collective generosity and commitment to our mission helped make this event a powerful testament to the impact we can achieve together. We’re looking forward to continuing the momentum in Palm Beach with this year’s event, and in all the years to come,” said David Y. Kim, Co-Founder and CEO of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.

Approximately 470 guests attended last year’s Palm Beach gala, including esteemed individuals such as Tracy Weiner, Executive Director of the CBIZ Foundation (Host); Jill and Matt Schecter, Gala Co-Hosts; Retired Major General Brian Mennes; Retired Major General Patricia Frost; and Holly Petraeus, Children of Fallen Patriots Board Member and wife of retired United States Army General and former Director of the CIA, General (RET) David Petraeus.

Although America is not currently at war, the children of fallen military service members continue to battle significant educational challenges. The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation (CFP) anticipates a substantial funding gap of $300 million over the next two decades, with an urgent need for $150 million in the next four years. This critical support is essential for Gold Star children who are now reaching college age, helping to cover the difference between available government assistance and the true expenses of higher education.

The family-friendly event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach. In honor of Cory’s life, his family established the Cory Bartle Memorial Fund with Hanley Foundation to support efforts to combat addiction and raise awareness about the devastating effects of substance use disorder (SUD).

“Cory was a culinary artist with a deep love for skateboarding, so we brought his passions together in a meaningful event that celebrates his spirit and supports a cause close to all of our hearts,” said James Bartle, cofounder and proprietor of SandyJames Fine Food & Productions. “By partnering with Hanley Foundation, we aim to provide resources and support to young people in our community who have been affected by addiction.”

Kesha’s T!ts Out Tour Brings Empowerment and Self-Expression to West Palm Beach

IMG 9088

Thousands of fans came together on Saturday, August 9th, at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, just minutes from Wellington, FL, to celebrate Kesha’s T!ts Out’ Tour. Many attendees arrived in bold, glittering outfits that reflected their personalities, valuing sexual freedom. This concert was the perfect place for Kesha and her fans to create a space where sexuality, like fashion, music, or art, is an extension of self-expression. A spirit of unapologetic freedom that finds its perfect partner in Feeld’s ‘Freedomme’ campaign, celebrating authenticity, empowerment, and connection without judgment.

Kesha shared, “I love creating community on tour for my fans. One of the biggest problems of today is that we are so connected yet feel so disconnected and lonely. One of the beautiful parts about my tour sponsor, Feeld, is that I think love and connection and touch are really important to human beings’ well-being… I love that Feeld creates a safe community for people to be really who they are, being actually what they’re into, and can help make this world a more pleasurable, loving place.”

KESHA LA 35

Watching the crowd of fans of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, and sexual orientations, it was clear that her words rang true—everyone was fully embracing themselves, connecting freely, and celebrating one another in a vibrant, judgment-free space.

Since Kesha went viral for joining Feeld and openly identifying as “omnisexual,” kinky, and dominant, she’s been asking fans, “Do you feel free?”—and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. She mentioned during her concert that the diversity she sees in each city mirrors the eclectic, open-minded spirit of her audience. With Feeld as the main sponsor, the dating app serves individuals who value authenticity and self-expression, and Kesha is proudly living her truth while inviting others to do the same. At its core, the partnership thrives on these shared values, celebrating freedom and self-expression.

The West Palm Beach stop of the tour captured that same magic. The night was more than a concert. It was a gathering of kindred spirits who believe in living without shame, celebrating their desires, and embracing every color of their identity. The crowd was as much a spectacle as the show itself, with outfits that defied convention, connections that sparked instantly, and a collective energy that proclaimed, “We’re here, we’re free, and we’re proud.”

Feeld’s Freedomme campaign and Kesha’s T!ts Out’ Tour converge at the crossroads of music, identity, and intimacy. Together, they serve as a powerful reminder that real connection begins when we shed filters, masks, and fear of judgment—and fully embrace who we are.

Strong Starts, Safe Seasons: Injury Prevention Tips from Local Orthopaedic Experts Dr. Hinson & Dr. Shaw with Palm Beach Orthopaedic Institute

Back2SchoolSports 1

With school sports ramping up across Palm Beach County, student-athletes are returning to the field, court, and basketball–often with more enthusiasm than preparation. This surge of activity, while exciting, also brings a sharp rise in preventable injuries at the start of each season. Orthopedic surgeons, Dr. John Hinson and Dr. Jonathan Shaw, with the Palm Beach Orthopaedic Institute, are emphasizing the importance of smart conditioning, stretching, and practical injury prevention tips to keep young athletes in top form.

Being aware of the most common injuries in student-athletes–and how to prevent overuse–is key to a strong and injury-free season. Dr. Hinson and Dr. Shaw emphasize that many sports injuries can be prevented with proper preparation, which includes suitable conditioning and recognizing potential early warning signs. By focusing on targeted muscle groups and sport-specific movements, athletes can reduce their risk of injury and improve overall performance.

Shoulder Overuse Injuries: Common injuries in Baseball, Tennis, and Volleyball

Repetitive overhead movements—common in baseball, tennis, volleyball, and many other sports and fitness activities—can place significant stress on the shoulder joint, particularly if the young athlete neglects proper warm-up routines. Failing to stretch before or after activity increases the risk of overuse injuries, including rotator cuff strains and labral injures. Ignoring early signs of discomfort and continuing to train or play through may worsen the condition and prolong recovery. It is crucial to seek medical evaluation at the first sign of persistent pain, rather than risking a more serious injury.

Dr. Hinson’s Prevention Tip: Make sure to stretch before and after activity and incorporate safe shoulder-strengthening exercises with proper warm-up routines. It’s important to limit overuse by rotating positions or reducing high-intensity reps during practice.

Knee Ligament Injuries (ACL Tears): Common injury in Football, Soccer, and Basketball

Quick stops, sharp pivots, and hard landings—like those in sports such as football, soccer, and basketball—can put a lot of pressure on the knees. Without proper strength, balance, and technique, these movements can increase the risk of injuries such as ACL tears, meniscus injuries, or inflammation in the tendons.

Dr. Shaw’s Prevention Tip: Work on improving coordination and body control through balance exercises, while also strengthening the muscles that support the knee, particularly the hamstrings and quadriceps. Taking the time to build knee strength and learn safe movement patterns is key to preventing long-term damage.

Recognizing early warning signs, like pain, is just as important as prevention. Aches and pains can worsen if neglected. This is why Dr. Shaw urges parents, caregivers, and coaches to watch for the following red flags to take action early:

– Persistent pain and/or swelling after practice or games
– Limited range of motion or stiffness in joints
– Limping or favoring one side during movement
– Instability of the knee, like not being able to pivot or shift
– A sudden decrease in performance or reluctance to participate

If any of these signs appear, or if pain occurs and doesn’t go away, it’s essential to seek medical attention promptly. As the school sports season gets underway, a proactive approach to injury prevention and early intervention can make all the difference. With expert guidance from orthopedic specialists like Dr. Hinson and Dr. Shaw, student-athletes can stay healthy, perform at their best, and keep the focus where it belongs: on the game.

Ketamine Therapy for Mental Health: Sanctuary Healthcare

man+ +ketamine assisted+psychotherapy+in+Los+Angeles,+CA+ +Ketamine+Therapist+ +Ketamine Assisted+Therapy+ +Psychedelic+Psychotherapy+ +Los+Angeles,+CA+ +California min

As the healthcare community continues to seek effective solutions for the growing mental health and addiction crisis, emerging therapies are drawing increased clinical attention. Ketamine infusion therapy, when combined with practitioner-guided therapies, is demonstrating significant and growing evidence in addressing a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, postpartum depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, substance use disorders, eating disorders, and more. Sanctuary Healthcare in Boca Raton, co-founded by Dr. Evan Peskin, is helping lead the way in South Florida by offering this integrated approach.

Evan Peskin insight professional headshot 5
Dr. Evan Peskin

With traditional treatment options often proving insufficient for complex cases or treatment-resistant conditions, ketamine-assisted therapy is becoming a promising option in the broader continuum of care for mental health and recovery. This is particularly relevant in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a serious and often debilitating condition that can arise after a person experiences a traumatic event.

Unfortunately, getting help for PTSD can be frustrating. Many individuals with PTSD struggle to engage in traditional therapies, such as talk therapy, due to avoidance behaviors or difficulty processing and expressing their thoughts and feelings that are the very hallmarks of the underlying condition. This barrier can slow or stall treatment progress and often leads to feelings of hopelessness and frustration. One of the key ways in which ketamine may support those with PTSD is by allowing them to engage more fully in therapy. By reducing avoidance behaviors and increasing a person’s ability to process and express their experiences, ketamine can support more meaningful participation in therapy sessions, leading to better clinical outcomes.

Ketamine is a powerful anesthetic that has been found to have rapid and sustained antidepressant effects. Several studies have demonstrated that even a single intravenous infusion of ketamine can result in significant improvements in PTSD symptoms within hours, with effects that can last for an extended period in many cases. These scientific findings have made ketamine an important option to consider for individuals who have not responded to other forms of treatment.

The theory that seems to resonate with Ketamine’s mechanism of action is the Snowy Hill theory. It suggests that when you sled down a snowy hill, the sled leaves a divot or a path in the snow. When one goes back to the top of the hill to sled again, the divot becomes deeper, so the sled is likely to follow that same path. By the time you have gone down the hill a hundred times, that path is so reinforced, ingrained, and worn into the hill that it becomes nearly impossible to deviate right, left, or anywhere but the path. Similarly, repeated thoughts cause literal reinforcement and physiologic strengthening of neural patterns and connected pathways in the brain. Research suggests Ketamine essentially allows for a fresh snowfall, or an ability to take a path that was near impossible to go down previously.

Dr. Peskin recommends that, as with any emerging therapy, it is important to approach ketamine treatment with caution and care. There are substantial variations in the quality of services offered, with some providers reducing costs in ways that may compromise treatment quality or safety. To ensure both optimal outcomes and patient safety, ketamine therapy should always be conducted under the supervision of qualified medical professionals. Clinical oversight is critical to managing dosing, monitoring patient response, and integrating therapy effectively.

While PTSD remains a challenging condition to treat, particularly for those who struggle to engage in conventional approaches, ketamine offers a promising adjuvant. Individuals considering this treatment should consult with a licensed healthcare provider experienced in ketamine therapy to determine whether or not it is an appropriate option for them.
