Wellington Bay, a premier luxury senior living community in Wellington, Florida, proudly hosted the Liberty Senior Living “Top Chef” Regional Competition on Wednesday, June 24th, 2026.Â
The high-stakes culinary event brought together talent from across Liberty Senior Living communities and showcased a masterclass in scratch-made, restaurant-quality dining designed specifically for senior residents.
The spirited competition welcomed culinary teams from Wellington Bay’s sister communities: The Templeton of Cary (North Carolina) and The Carlisle (Palm Beach).Â
In an incredibly tight race that kept judges and attendees on the edge of their seats, The Carlisle ultimately took home the regional win. They will move on to host the prestigious Championship round on August 6th.Â
Wellington Bay’s very own Chef Joshua Crane delivered a spectacular performance, earning the distinguished title of runner-up.
The Liberty Senior Living “Top Chef” competition is designed to shatter stigmas surrounding senior living food. By emphasizing scratch cooking with fresh, top-tier ingredients, the event elevates the daily standard of resident dining.Â
For the competition, Chef Crane made a twist on the Mumbai street food classic, Pani Puri – a hollow shell made of finely ground semolina flour which was stuffed a cumin and coriander black bean puree, tuna tartar, corn mousse, lime zest and pumpkin seed dust and then, topped with a butternut and roasted pepper sofrito, presented in a box with edible flowers and a micro cilantro salad with a pipette of cilantro – honey dressing.

As for the dessert, Chef Crane crafted a chocolate cup was a blend of avocado and dark chocolate in a mousse form infused with cardamom and sweetened with a Mayan honey , layered with a macadamia nut crumble, coca nibs set in a classic peanut butter cup mold, with a crispy chocolate shell.
Following a series of regional cookoffs representing different geographic territories, the top finalists advance to a grand finale to compete for a $5,000 grand prize.
During the regional round, a distinguished judging panel, comprising community leaders, resident dining committees, and guest culinary experts, graded the dishes based on creativity, presentation, nutrition, and overall resident appeal.
“We are thrilled to have hosted such an extraordinary showcase of culinary talent here at Wellington Bay, and we extend our warmest congratulations to The Carlisle on their well-deserved victory,” said Jay Mikosch, Executive Campus Director of Wellington Bay. “While the competition was fierce, I could not be more proud of Chef Joshua Crane and our entire culinary team. Their daily dedication to crafting delicious, nutritious, and high-quality meals ensures our residents experience world-class dining every single day.”
Wellington Bay remains committed to redefining luxury senior living, proving that exceptional nutrition and gourmet flair go hand-in-hand.Â
The community wishes The Carlisle the best of luck as they prepare to host the grand finale this August.
